Summary
A scientist succeeds in creating a living artificial being , a Homunculus, the Latin term meaning “little man” , within the confines of his laboratory. Although outwardly human, the creature is a soulless construct, and its attempts to understand and experience love end in failure. When it discovers that it is incapable of genuine emotion, it descends into despair and ultimately violence, unleashing chaos upon a nearby German village.
Realising the danger posed by his creation, the scientist undertakes a relentless pursuit of the Homunculus, determined to destroy the being he has brought into existence.
Only episode 4 and partial print of episode 5 still exist from the original unedited version.
