Summary
A mysterious individual capable of transforming his body into a gaseous state emerges and identifies himself as the Human Vapor. He murders a professor during a live television broadcast and declares his intention to kill all those associated with an organisation known as the White Centre. The investigation is assigned to Detective Kenji Okamoto, who begins tracing the pattern of killings and the motives behind them.
Concurrently, Okamoto’s former girlfriend Kyoko Kono conducts her own inquiry into the White Centre's links to a meteorite impact that occurred twenty‑seven years earlier and the subsequent clean-up of the contaminated crash site. As both investigations progress, Kyoko and Okamoto repeatedly intersect, gradually uncovering a broader conspiracy that connects the Human Vapor’s actions with long‑concealed events from the past.
