Summary
The Immortal (2000) premiered in syndication during the week of 2 October 2000. The series centres on Raphael Cain, whose origins trace back to the early seventeenth century, when the French merchant vessel Dauphine embarked on a final exploratory voyage toward the distant seas surrounding Japan. A supernatural storm obliterated the ship and claimed the lives of its eighty‑seven crew members, leaving only a single survivor: the young Raphael.
Rescued by the enigmatic Yashiro, Raphael was raised under his protection until Yashiro departed for a decade‑long absence. Upon his return, Yashiro discovered that Raphael’s wife, Mikiko, had been murdered and their daughter, Kiyomi, abducted by the malevolent demons Mallos and Vashista.
Driven by grief and vengeance, Raphael forged an otherworldly sword and accepted a curse that bound him to centuries of life, granting him immortality. Under Yashiro’s training and later accompanied by his ally Goodwin, Raphael dedicated his eternal existence to combating supernatural evil. In doing so, he became known simply as The Immortal, a warrior committed to defending humanity against demonic forces.
