Summary
The chapterplay centres on a mineralogist, played by Bracy, who discovers a substance capable of emitting a dangerously powerful radiation. Recognising its potential for catastrophic misuse, he seals the samples within a lead casket, entrusting one key to his colleague, Professor Stone, and placing the other on a chain around the neck of his young daughter. After the mineralogist disappears and is presumed dead, the child is raised in an orphanage under the name Mystery (Clifford). As an adult, she encounters Professor Stone and forms a romantic attachment to his son, portrayed by Sherrill.
Their lives become imperilled by a criminal organisation known as the Crime Creators, whose members seek the radioactive substance with the intention of weaponizing it for global extortion. Mystery and her companion receive covert assistance from an enigmatic figure known as Deaux, ultimately revealed to be her father, alive and operating in secret, and from a clairvoyant, played by Uzzell, who is disclosed to be her mother. Their associate John Haldane (Davis) is eventually exposed as the principal villain behind the conspiracy.
