Summary
The narrative follows three students from the boarding school Framtidsakademin, Asrin, Max and Lima, who are summoned by Professor Styregaard to prevent time from being halted the day before Christmas Eve. The children are descendants of the academy’s founders, who once constructed a portal linking multiple dimensions and granting access to the centre of the universe. As relatives of the original builders, they possess the latent abilities required to reopen the portal.
Styregaard, assisted by her benevolent robot Gorbi, reveals that a crystal regulating time across the universe lies at its centre. The crystal’s tip was broken off centuries earlier, and unless it is restored within days, time will cease entirely. She holds the missing fragment and intends to repair the crystal.
Using the portal, Styregaard and the children advance toward the crystal while contending with Dr. Ruben, who initially opposes them. Ruben has built a limited portal enabling communication with Amalia, a mysterious figure stationed at the damaged crystal. He later abandons his antagonism, assisting Styregaard and the children alongside his daughter Fiona after recognising the consequences of his actions.
The academy’s watch manager, initially preoccupied with maintaining order at Framtidsakademin, eventually joins Styregaard as an additional assistant.
Amalia is ultimately revealed to be Asrin’s great‑great‑grandmother and one of the original portal builders. Three hundred years earlier, she broke the Time Crystal and was inadvertently left at the universe’s centre when her companions, believing her dead, fled. Misinterpreting their departure as abandonment, she seeks revenge and attempts to reclaim the crystal.
