Summary
Opening with the discovery of an unidentified man on a remote island near Seattle, Washington, the pilot episode introduces a figure who later adopts the name “John Doe.” Found naked and devoid of any recollection of his identity or origins, he nevertheless possesses an extraordinary encyclopaedic command of global knowledge. His cognitive abilities encompass everything from precise numerical trivia, such as the number of dimples on a golf ball or the population of Morocco, to advanced expertise in fields including finance, technology, and criminology.
As John integrates himself into life in Seattle, he uses these abilities both to search for clues about his past and to assist the Seattle Police Department in solving complex cases. Over time, it becomes evident that his actions are being closely monitored by a clandestine international organisation known as the Phoenix Organization, whose motives and connection to John’s lost identity form a central mystery of the narrative.
