Summary
An alien spacecraft arrives on Earth and is observed by a local sheriff. During the landing, one of the extraterrestrial visitors accidentally disembarks, and the vessel departs without him. The mission had been intended solely to harvest energy from the planet’s surface, leaving the stranded alien with no immediate means of returning home. After visiting the local school, he succeeds in transferring his consciousness into the body of a young boy.
Soon afterwards, he encounters siblings Robbie and Josh, who agree to shelter him while he searches for a way to re-join his people. They name him Allen and decide to bring him to school, concealing his presence from their father. Robbie, meanwhile, is coping with the absence of her mother, a doctor working in another state, and the separation of her parents, adding a further emotional dimension to the children’s efforts to help Allen navigate life on Earth.
