Summary
Treat Williams portrays Theodore Lytton, a professor of geology and palaeontology who discovers an extraordinary subterranean world deep beneath the Earth’s surface. Lytton is commissioned by Alice Hastings to lead an expedition to Auckland, New Zealand, in search of her husband, Casper, who vanished seven years earlier. Accompanied by his nephew, Jones, and the enigmatic adventurer McNiff, Lytton embarks on a perilous journey into an uncharted realm.
The expedition confronts a series of hazards, including volatile gas eruptions, scalding geothermal waters, venomous vipers, flocks of reptilian birds, and a Sauroid, a human‑sized dinosaur, each underscoring the dangers of the hidden world they have entered. As the group ventures further into this fantastical environment, the pressures of survival and the emotional strain of their circumstances begin to erode the bonds of trust and friendship, forcing each member to confront profound physical and psychological challenges.
