Summary
A cataclysmic incident involving an artifact of an ancient Martian civilization results in the sudden appearance of the Skywall, a vast supernatural barrier that divides Japan into three autonomous blocs, Touto, Hokuto, and Seito. The Skywall Catastrophe not only reshapes the nation’s political landscape but also unleashes hostile entities known as Smash, whose attacks create widespread fear and instability across all territories.
Sento Kiryu, an amnesiac young physicist, is taken in by Soichi Isurugi, the proprietor of the café Nascita. Under Isurugi’s guidance, Sento acquires the Build Driver, a transformation device enabling him to become Kamen Rider Build and combat the Smash independently. Build’s combat capabilities derive from pairs of Fullbottles, each containing purified essences of organic or inorganic matter; these bottles are created by defeating Smash, extracting their unstable essence, and refining it into a usable form.
As the narrative progresses, Sento uncovers that his lost past is inseparably linked to the Skywall Catastrophe and that the Smash phenomenon is orchestrated by a clandestine organisation seeking global domination. His investigation reveals shifting loyalties among his companions and hidden agendas within the political factions of Japan. In confronting these revelations, Sento forms alliances with individuals who gain their own Rider systems, faces adversaries who violently oppose his efforts to protect humanity, and is repeatedly forced to reassess the nature of the conflict, its participants, its motivations, and the very definition of each “side.”
