Summary
Kamen Rider Ex‑Aid follows Emu Hōjō, a paediatrics intern and gifted gamer who becomes involved in a crisis caused by Bugsters, computer‑virus lifeforms born from software bugs in games produced by the Genm Corporation. Led by Parad and Graphite, Bugsters infect players at a cellular level and fully manifest when the host’s stress peaks. To combat them, Genm Corp develops the Gamer Driver and Rider Gashats, enabling specially selected doctors, including Emu, to transform into Riders.
Emu fights as Kamen Rider Ex‑Aid, joined by surgeon Hiiro Kagami (Brave), unlicensed doctor Taiga Hanaya (Snipe), and coroner Kiriya Kujo (Lazer), aided by the Bugster Poppy Pipopapo. Their early enemy is Kamen Rider Genm, revealed as CEO Kuroto Dan, creator of the Bugsters and architect of Kamen Rider Chronicle, an AR survival game that turns civilians into Ride‑Players. Kuroto also reveals Emu as the true patient zero.
After Kuroto’s defeat, Parad becomes Kamen Rider Para‑DX and attempts to wipe out humanity, revealing himself as Emu’s Bugster counterpart. A new threat emerges in Kamen Rider Cronus, the identity of Masamune Dan, Kuroto’s father and mastermind of the original outbreak. As Chronicle spreads worldwide, the Riders learn they must defeat its final boss, Gamedeus. When they succeed, Masamune absorbs Gamedeus and becomes Kamen Rider Gamedeus Cronus, the ultimate enemy.
