Summary
Houtaro Ichinose, a student at Furasu High School, discovers the hidden Alchemist Academy beneath the campus and is entrusted by alchemist Fuga Kudo with the GotcharDriver, enabling him to transform into Kamen Rider Gotchard. Fuga tasks him with retrieving the Chemies, artificial lifeforms released a decade earlier that can merge with humans to form Malgams. Houtaro is assisted by Fuga’s daughter Rinne, who becomes Kamen Rider Majade, and by Supana Kurogane, a graduate who transforms into Kamen Rider Valvarad and initially regards the Chemies as mere tools.
Their opposition comes from the Three Dark Sisters, Atropos, Clotho, and Lachesis, who seek to use the Chemies for their master, Glion, and develop Kamen Rider Dread systems to counter the Riders. Fuga’s apparent betrayal is later revealed to stem from his discovery of a conspiracy within the Alchemist Union tied to Glion’s plans. When Glion attempts to destroy the world, the Riders receive aid from the time‑travelling Kamen Rider Gotchard Daybreak, an alternate future version of Houtaro from a timeline where Glion succeeded in turning the world into gold. Glion is ultimately defeated and consumed by the monster he attempted to summon.
Following Glion’s demise, the Dark Sisters ally with Gigist, one of the Dark Kings and creator of the earliest Chemies. Ho‑Oh Kaguya Quartz briefly joins Houtaro to battle Hundred as Kamen Rider Legend. To counter Gigist, Houtaro unlocks the true power of the 101st Chemy, Nijigon, allowing him to transform into Rainbow Gotchard. Additional Dark Kings, Germain and Gaelijah, appear seeking the Philosopher’s Stone, which resides within Nijigon. The Dark Sisters exploit the ensuing conflict to resurrect Glion, who emerges from Germain’s body, absorbs the powers of the Dark Kings, and becomes Kamen Rider Eldo, attempting once again to turn the world into gold. Houtaro awakens the full extent of his alchemy, defeats Glion permanently, restores the world, and creates a duplicate Earth where the Chemies can exist peacefully.
