Summary
Doctor Shido, a distinguished authority in advanced robotics, is abducted by the terrorist organisation Neoshocker, formally known as the Neo Sacred Hegemony of Cycle Kindred Evolutional Realm, which intends to exploit his scientific expertise for its expansionist aims. Seeking an opportunity to escape captivity, Shido persuades Neoshocker’s leadership to permit him to operate on an injured camper, Hiroshi Tsukaba (portrayed by Hiroaki Murakami). Claiming he can reconstruct Tsukaba into a formidable Neoshocker combatant, Shido gains access to the necessary equipment. Instead of creating an obedient kaijin, however, he subverts their plan and transforms Tsukaba into a powerful cyborg warrior later known as Skyrider.
In his reconstructed form, Tsukaba retains elements of his former recreational pursuits, particularly hang gliding and motorcycle riding, which become defining attributes of Skyrider’s combat style. Equipped with the Rider Machine Sky Turbo and endowed with moth‑inspired flight capabilities known as the Sailing Jump, Skyrider begins his campaign against Neoshocker’s forces. Initially referred to simply as “Kamen Rider,” he receives the name “Skyrider” in episode 20 from Stronger, the protagonist of Kamen Rider Stronger, after encountering the veteran Riders.
Under the guidance of Stronger and the other previous Riders, Skyrider undergoes intensive training designed to prepare him for battles against newly revived and enhanced Neoshocker kaijin. Following this regimen, his physical appearance is brightened to reflect his increased power and renewed determination.
In episode 54, the former Riders return to support Skyrider in his climactic confrontation with Neoshocker. Their apparent sacrifice enables Skyrider to defeat the organisation decisively, restoring peace and security to Japan.
