Summary
Kokey, an extra-terrestrial being from the planet Yekok, crash‑lands on Earth and is discovered by a young orphan, Bong, with whom he quickly forms a close friendship. Bong assists Kokey in repairing his damaged spacecraft so that he may eventually return to his home world. Over time, Kokey also befriends Bong’s sister Anna, the aspiring pilot Abie, who contributes technical expertise to the ship’s reconstruction, and Peping, another companion drawn into their adventures.
Kokey’s arrival on Earth attracts the attention of his adversary Korokoy, who pursues him across space in search of a powerful crystal treasured by Kokey. Bong, Anna, Abie, and Peping join Kokey in a quest to recover the missing crystal, complete the spacecraft repairs, and thwart Korokoy’s plans. During their travels, the group is temporarily reduced in size, leading to an episode in which they sleep upon a leaf. While the others rest, Bong remains awake, reflecting somberly on Kokey’s eventual departure and the loneliness he anticipates once his friend returns to Yekok. After expressing his feelings in song, he finally falls asleep.
The following day, the group resumes its search, confronting numerous obstacles and unexplained phenomena. Their efforts ultimately lead to the recovery of the crystal and Korokoy’s defeat. Kokey’s mother, Kakay, arrives on Earth soon afterward, revealing that Kokey’s father, Kokoy, had also been an enemy of Korokoy. As Korokoy is vanquished, he proclaims a final warning, “I shall come back again!”, before disappearing.
Kokey and Kakay then depart Earth aboard their spacecraft. Once they ascend into the night sky, Kakay asks her son where the crystal is located. Kokey searches frantically and realizes, to his alarm, that he has inadvertently left the crystal in Bong’s possession. Both cry out in dismay as their ship continues its journey back to Yekok.
