Summary
Renowned archaeologist Dr. Itano, celebrated for his expertise in ancient Egyptian civilisation, secretly transports a 4,000‑year‑old mummy from Egypt to Japan with the intention of reviving it. Assisted by his research aide Makimura, he conducts a series of experimental procedures to formulate a resurrection compound. Their efforts culminate in the creation of a potent elixir capable of awakening the mummy from its millennia‑long slumber. Upon revival, however, the creature murders Dr. Itano and escapes into the city, prompting Makimura to pursue it.
The police, unaware of the true circumstances, suspect Makimura of killing the doctor, but he too is subsequently slain by the mummy, leaving the investigation at an impasse. As the resurrected entity wanders through urban streets, it commits a series of brutal murders witnessed by terrified onlookers.
Amid the growing panic, Dr. Itano’s brother‑in‑law Yusaku Nonomiya uncovers the details of the doctor’s secret research. He learns that the mummy is in fact Ramses, an ancient warlord who once loved the Egyptian princess Patra and served as a test subject for an elixir of immortality. The modern‑day killings are thus revealed to be the violent resurgence of a figure bound to a tragic and supernatural past.
