Summary
King Aegues is reimagined as E.G., an industrial magnate whose foremost accomplishment is the development of Icarus III, the first aircraft powered by nuclear energy. The undertaking, however, has become a source of profound personal torment. Its operation requires an annual dispatch of fourteen volunteers to the remote atomic facility on Mitremos, an island from which no participant has ever returned, giving the project a reputation both formidable and macabre.
His illegitimate son, Theaus (Theodore), eventually journeys to Mitremos to uncover the truth behind these disappearances. There he encounters the so‑called “minotaur”, revealed not as a mythical creature but as Dr. Minolti, a deranged scientist who oversees the Icarus programme while simultaneously conducting unauthorised experiments on human exposure to radiation. Theodore narrowly escapes becoming another victim of Minolti’s research, destroys both the scientist and his clandestine laboratory, and returns to assert his claim to E.G.’s legacy.
