Summary
The narrative centred on the domestic life of an eccentric household unit in the year 2040, located in Sector 80 of a planned colony known as the Efficicity. Although presented as a family, the characters were not biologically related; instead, they were assigned to shared living quarters by an overarching administrative system. Elements of the setting were overtly dystopian: in the opening episode, Luna faces the threat of execution after misplacing her mandatory citizen identity card.
A defining feature of the series was its constructed language, techno‑talk, spoken by all characters and presented as an engineered evolution of English designed to facilitate computer comprehension. Techno‑talk employed modified word stems, numerical substitutions, and compressed syntax, echoing aspects of George Orwell’s Newspeak while serving a distinct technological purpose. The characters resided in a habiviron (from habitat and environment), attended eduviron, and referred to children as diminibeings, abbreviated to 'dimini. Expressions such as regrets! and gratitudes! replaced sorry and thank you, reflecting the programme’s systematic linguistic innovation.
The first series was repeated in the weeks immediately preceding the broadcast of the second, but the programme has not been rebroadcast since.
