Summary
The town of Akebono appears to be an ordinary and vibrant Japanese suburb, yet it is secretly afflicted by recurring attacks from supernatural monsters. Upon arriving for his new assignment, novice police officer Narukami Kenji is inadvertently drawn into the town’s hidden conflict. During one such encounter, as he is on the verge of being killed, Kenji discovers a mysterious sentient sword known as Geki‑Ryuken. Possessing its own will and the ability to speak, the sword instructs him to draw it and activate a transformation key. Obeying these commands, Kenji transforms into Ryukendo and succeeds in defeating the attacking creature.
Still bewildered by the experience, Kenji is soon approached by another warrior, Ryugano, also known as Fudou Jushirou, who wields firearms and operates as part of a covert defence organisation called SHOT. Kenji subsequently assumes dual responsibilities as both a police officer and a SHOT operative. Working alongside Fudou, he protects Akebono from the various threats that emerge to endanger the town.
