Summary
Set five years after the events of Return of the Jedi (1983) and the collapse of the Galactic Empire, The Mandalorian centres on Din Djarin, a solitary Mandalorian bounty hunter operating in the galaxy’s outer territories. Djarin is contracted by surviving Imperial elements to capture Grogu, a young member of Yoda’s species, but instead absconds with the child in order to protect him. As he seeks to reunite Grogu with others of his kind, Djarin becomes the target of Moff Gideon, a former Imperial commander intent on exploiting Grogu’s innate connection to the Force. The narrative later follows Djarin and Grogu to Mandalore, where Djarin undertakes a quest to atone for the transgression of removing his helmet.
