Summary
A fourteen‑year‑old girl named Dawn witnesses a group of local children assaulting their nine‑year‑old neighbour Dídac and throwing him into the marsh near their town. She reprimands them for their actions and prepares to enter the water to rescue him. Before she can do so, the children shout that a formation of flattened, silver‑coloured objects has appeared overhead, filling the entire sky.
After Dawn retrieves Dídac from the water, she discovers that the children who had been standing above the marsh now lie motionless on the ground. Upon closer inspection, she realises that they are dead, along with the rest of the town’s inhabitants.
