Summary
Mikazuki is a Japanese science‑fiction action series centred on a wave of inexplicable phenomena occurring across Japan. Human thoughts, once confined to the mind, begin to manifest physically as sentient, combative giants known as Edems. These entities emerge without warning, posing an escalating threat to civilisation.
To counter this crisis, the organisation AIT is established. Its Mission Specialists deploy advanced combat armour, experimental weaponry and mechanised units in an effort to contain the Edems. Despite their technological sophistication, AIT’s forces struggle to withstand the relentless appearance of these creatures and ultimately turn their hopes toward a towering, enigmatic construct called Mikazuki.
Mikazuki is piloted by Kazeo, a young boy burdened with the responsibility of defending humanity while grappling with the unresolved disappearance of his father. As Kazeo confronts the Edems, questions arise regarding the origins of these manifestations, the purpose behind Mikazuki’s arrival, and the reason it selected him as its pilot. Further mystery surrounds Shingettsu, a second colossal figure possessing power equal to Mikazuki’s own.
The series explores humanity’s confrontation with the physical embodiment of its own thoughts, framing Kazeo’s battles as part of a broader struggle to understand the nature of the Edems and the forces guiding these monumental machines.
