Summary

Miraculous Mellops — Series 1

The narrative centres on siblings Sam, Michael, and Jason Mellop, who are approaching their first Christmas following the death of their mother. Their father Bill faces additional difficulties when a neighbour threatens the viability of his garden‑shop business. Amid this period of uncertainty, a shooting star appears, heralding the emergence of telepathic abilities among the children.

On the Moon, the moonlings are depicted as highly intelligent children governed collectively by the Grand Baby, their supreme leader. With the Grand Baby nearing death, a shooting star is dispatched to Earth to identify a successor. Its arrival in the Mellop household imbues various domestic objects with extraordinary powers. Two moonlings subsequently travel to Earth to assist the Mellop children in assembling these empowered items and determining the identity of the next Grand Baby. Their efforts are repeatedly hindered by their meddlesome neighbour, Dump, whose interference complicates the quest.

Miraculous Mellops — Series 2

The second series begins with the reopening celebration of the Mellops’ garden shop. During the festivities, the children attempt to send a fax to the moonlings but inadvertently misdial the number, contacting instead a predatory alien species known as the Yucks. These creatures traverse the galaxy consuming entire planets, placing Earth in imminent danger.

The Mellops receive assistance from an enigmatic young girl residing within a black hole and from a sentient window capable of travelling anywhere when provided with a telephone number. Despite these unusual allies, the children must once again contend with the persistent interference of Dump, whose mischief continues to obstruct their efforts to avert catastrophe.
