Summary
The series centres on Edward Albright, an American covert operative, and his civilian cover identity, Henry Spivey, who remains unaware of Albright’s existence. Albright, portrayed by Christian Slater, operates under a behavioural‑modification protocol in which an implanted control chip enables his handlers to overwrite his operative persona with that of his suburban alter ego.
A malfunction in the pilot episode causes the programmed transitions to occur unpredictably, resulting in Henry’s inadvertent discovery of Albright’s clandestine activities. Consequently, Henry becomes unwillingly entangled in the hazardous operations of his counterpart, with communication between the two identities limited to brief video messages transmitted via mobile phone.
