Summary
Set within the Patlabor universe’s depiction of Tokyo in 2013, the narrative is positioned chronologically after the events of the original OVA series and the feature films. Following the completion of the Babylon Project, a large‑scale urban redevelopment initiative, the widespread use of Labours declines, contributing to a national recession. The diminishing relevance of Labour technology results in the contraction of the patrol labour units, leaving only a single operational division.
The series centres on the newly assigned members of Special Vehicles Section 2 (SV2) as they undertake investigations and encounter operational mishaps reminiscent of those experienced by their predecessors. The accompanying feature film serves as a direct sequel to Patlabor 2, depicting a series of terrorist incidents in Tokyo orchestrated by followers of Yukihito Tsuge. These attacks emulate Tsuge’s earlier attempted coup, compelling SV2 to intervene and prevent a renewed destabilisation of the city.
