Summary
Johnny Domino, a prominent San Francisco jazz musician, becomes the subject of an extraordinary transformation after being struck by lightning during a freak cable‑car accident. The incident grants him the ability to telepathically detect malevolent intent, while simultaneously depriving him of the capacity to sleep. This heightened sensitivity to wrongdoing forms the foundation of his vigilante persona, Night Man.
Although Night Man possesses no innate superhuman abilities beyond his telepathic perception, he relies on a technologically advanced black bodysuit, distinguished by its blue cape and bullet‑resistant construction. The suit confers several enhanced capabilities, including flight, holographic camouflage‑based invisibility, and a range of augmented visual functions delivered through the red lens positioned over the left eye of his mask. These include night vision and the ability to emit a laser beam.
While Night Man confronts a variety of adversaries throughout the series, his principal nemesis is Kieran Keyes (Kim Coates), a billionaire in the field of computer technologies. Keyes emerges as the central antagonist, ultimately responsible for the murder of Johnny’s father, Frank Domino, in the premiere episode of the second, and final—season.
