Summary
Four hundred years after a group of valiant ninja sealed the dimensional passageway that once allowed demons to enter Earth, the barrier is breached and malevolent forces again gain access to the human world. In response, a new generation of modern ninja is assembled, led by Sasuke (Ogawa), a direct descendant of the legendary Sasuke Sarutobi. As Ninja Red, Sasuke is a master of advanced ninja techniques and fights with the symbolic spirit of the monkey. His second‑in‑command is Tsuruhime (Hirose), Ninja White, an atypical leadership choice within the Super Sentai franchise. She is the twenty‑fourth leader of the Crane Clan and a practitioner of its specialised combat arts.
Seikai (Kawai) serves as Ninja Yellow, a descendant of the renowned warrior Miyoshi Seikai Nyūdō, and channels the strength of the bear. Saizō (Tsuchida), Ninja Blue, is a descendant of the famed ninja Saizō Kirigakure and fights with the exceptional speed associated with the wolf. Jiraiya (Kosugi), an American member of the team, is the descendant of the legendary ninja Jiraiya. As Ninja Black, he embodies the power of the toad and is noted for his mastery of mid‑air combat techniques.
Their principal adversary resides within Gaikotsu Castle, where the Demon King commands an army of supernatural forces. His chief operatives are five kunoichi, highly skilled female ninja, who lead both the standard foot soldiers and a succession of weekly monsters deployed against the heroes. The team’s animal‑themed vehicles, Monkey, Crane, Bear, Wolf, and Toad, combine to form the colossal Super Stealth King, despite the ironic lack of stealth associated with a giant robot. Over the course of the series, the Kakuranger team acquires one of the most extensive arsenals of mecha in Super Sentai history, including later additions such as the Jugun (Best‑General) and Super Jugun, alongside individually pilotable machines.
