Summary
Odd Squad follows the activities of a child‑run investigative organisation that resolves unusual and often fantastical problems through the application of basic mathematical principles. Across its first two seasons, the narrative primarily centres on pairs of agents assigned to Precinct 13579: Olive (Dalila Bela) and Otto (Filip Geljo) in the first season, and Olympia (Anna Cathcart) and Otis (Isaac Kragten) in the second. Selected episodes expand the focus to other divisions within the organisation, including security personnel, tube operators, and scientific staff. Character names almost invariably begin with the letter O, reinforcing the programme’s internal thematic conventions.
Agents receive assignments from their supervisor, Ms. O (Millie Davis), and travel to case locations via a network of interconnected pneumatic tubes. Investigations typically require the agents to identify mathematical relationships or patterns that lead to the resolution of the problem or the apprehension of a perpetrator. When on‑site deduction proves insufficient, agents return either to their precinct headquarters or to the Mathroom, a sentient analytical space that communicates through oversized paper fortune tellers, unfolding them to reveal information that assists in identifying connections and solutions.
Scientific support is provided through a range of specialised gadgets developed by the organisation’s laboratory staff. In the first season, the lab is overseen by Agent Oscar (Sean Michael Kyer), who later gains an assistant, Agent Oona (Olivia Presti). Oona assumes leadership of the laboratory in the second season following Oscar’s promotion.
The series features a roster of recurring antagonists whose schemes frequently incorporate mathematical motifs. The third season, titled Odd Squad Mobile Unit, relocates the action from Precinct 13579 to a mobile van. In this iteration, four agents are appointed by the Big O (Millie Davis) to travel internationally, addressing cases that local precincts cannot reach or require assistance to resolve. The fourth season, Odd Squad UK, shifts the setting to a branch of the organisation located in the United Kingdom.
