Summary
In a remote island settlement situated off the coast of mainland Luzon, local folklore concerning invasive, parasitic leeches, said to induce a zombie‑like condition in their hosts, intersects with the histories of two generations of victims. The legend encompasses both an earlier case involving a village resident and a contemporary episode affecting the family of a young father whose household is destabilised by escalating internal conflict.
