Summary
Set in Kyoto in the year 2030, the narrative explores emerging conceptions of human–artificial intelligence relationships. Businessman Kenichi Tsumiki enters into a marriage with a humanoid AI named Pipuru after failing to establish a romantic relationship with a long‑time colleague. Upon bringing Pipuru home, he is unexpectedly rejected on their wedding night.
Seeking an explanation, Tsumiki consults the AI’s developer, the emotionally detached researcher Kaede Miyama. Miyama identifies an issue within Pipuru’s behavioural settings but explains that the configuration cannot be altered, leaving Tsumiki unable to resolve the situation.
