Summary
Plan B is a Canadian time‑travel drama series that premiered on CBC Television in 2023. Adapted from the original French‑language Quebec series, it is structured as an anthology in which each season follows a different protagonist who turns to a mysterious agency, known only as Plan B, to travel back in time and alter pivotal moments in their lives.
The first season centres on Phillip Grimmer, a Montreal lawyer whose personal and professional life begins to unravel. After the breakdown of his relationship with his girlfriend Evelyn and a major setback at work, Phillip seeks out the Plan B agency in an attempt to revise his past decisions. His efforts reveal the unintended consequences of even minor changes, illustrating the series’ central theme: altering one’s past rarely produces the desired future.
The second season follows Mia Coleman, a police officer haunted by her role in a domestic dispute that ends disastrously. Offered the chance to revisit the events leading up to the incident, Mia attempts to correct her actions, only to discover that her interventions generate new and equally complex outcomes. This season is adapted from the third season of the original French series and features several actors reprising their roles from the Quebec production.
The third season shifts focus to Abigail Walker, a prominent morning‑show host whose teenage daughter, Lucy, dies by suicide. Consumed by grief and regret, Abigail turns to Plan B in a desperate attempt to prevent the tragedy. Her repeated journeys into the past force her to confront painful truths about her family, her relationships, and the limits of control. As Abigail’s choices reshape the lives of those around her, the narrative explores the ethical implications of time travel and the emotional cost of trying to rewrite fate.
