Summary
A humanoid robot named Elektronik, created by Professor Gromov, escapes from the scientist’s laboratory. Elektronik has been engineered to resemble Sergey Syroezhkin, a schoolboy whose likeness was selected from a magazine photograph and used as the model for the robot’s appearance.
By chance, Elektronik encounters Syroezhkin, the human prototype on whom he was based. The sixth‑grade pupil quickly devises a scheme: he persuades Elektronik to assume his identity, attend school in his place, and even reside temporarily in his home. The substitution proves successful, as neither teachers nor family members detect the deception. Syroezhkin’s instructors are impressed by the sudden emergence of an exceptionally talented pupil who demonstrates extraordinary abilities in mathematics, gymnastics, drawing, and singing. His parents likewise remain unaware of the ruse and attribute the robot’s achievements to their son’s unexpected personal development.
Over time, however, Syroezhkin begins to understand the consequences of his plan. As Elektronik increasingly occupies his social and academic roles, the boy fears that he may lose his place in his own life.
Meanwhile, in an unspecified foreign country, a criminal organisation is active. The group is led by a figure known as Stump, who instructs one of his most capable associates, Urrie, to locate and abduct Elektronik. The gang intends to exploit the robot’s exceptional capabilities in order to execute what they describe as the crime of the century.
