Summary

The series, described by American critics as National Enquirer television and promoted as being inspired by real events, dramatized investigations conducted under the United States Air Force’s Project Blue Book. Major Jake Gatlin and his colleague, Sergeant Harry Fitz, were tasked with examining reports of unidentified flying objects deemed to possess both high strangeness and high credibility across the United States.

Episodes were framed as individual incidents, each depicting a distinct case. Storylines included accounts of a rancher and his family allegedly attacked by extra-terrestrial beings (the Howard Crossing Incident), an airliner pursued by a boomerang‑shaped craft (the Medicine Bow Incident), and various situations in which witnesses faced professional repercussions after reporting sightings. In The Rock and Hard Place Incident, Gatlin and Fitz themselves experienced a sighting, further complicating their investigations.

During the second season, Captain Ben Ryan joined the investigative team, though the programme’s structure remained unchanged. Each episode continued to present witnesses recounting their experiences to the Blue Book investigators, maintaining the series’ anthology‑style approach to UFO phenomena.
