Summary
The narrative centres on the archetypal mad scientist, Dr. Kilkiss, whose ambitions for global domination are consistently thwarted by Professor Quentin E. Deverill, an American academic and amateur detective renowned for devising ingenious mechanical contrivances. Deverill, accompanied by his Cockney butler‑chauffeur Phipps, evokes a deliberate Arthur Conan Doyle parallel: Deverill as a Holmesian figure, Kilkiss as a Moriarty‑like antagonist, and Phipps functioning as a Watson analogue.
