Summary

Thirty years after Dr. Samuel Beckett’s disappearance into the Quantum Leap accelerator, the United States Department of Defence reactivates the project with a new research team tasked with reconstructing the system and attempting to recover Beckett. The project’s lead physicist, Dr. Ben Song, uploads new code to Ziggy, the project’s supercomputer, and initiates an unsanctioned leap into the past for reasons that remain unexplained. As a result, he becomes temporally displaced in the same manner as Beckett, inhabiting the lives of various individuals and altering historical events.

Song’s leaps exhibit a defined trajectory toward a specific point in spacetime, suggesting an underlying purpose or destination. Addison Augustine, a project employee and Song’s fiancée, serves as his holographic liaison, appearing only to him and fulfilling a role analogous to that previously held by Rear Admiral Al Calavicci. Janis Calavicci, Al’s daughter, is excluded from the revived project but is known to have collaborated with Song in modifying Ziggy’s code. Her motivations for doing so have not been disclosed.
