Summary
Released only two months after the first long‑distance wireless communication tests in the United States, this short serial explores the emerging concept of instantaneous global communication via radio. As is characteristic of productions centred on transformative technological inventions, the narrative frames the device’s military potential as the principal reason for audience concern regarding its fate and the question of who ultimately controls it.
The inventors of the super‑radio, Brad and John (Stewart and Smith), promote the apparatus as a means for American military bases worldwide to communicate with one another without delay. The antagonist, Marnee (Bracey), seeks to obtain the device in order to overthrow the U.S. government. The ensuing conflict incorporates a variety of additional electronic mechanisms, including remote‑controlled doors that ultimately entrap Marnee and his associates.
