Summary
Expelled from his wrestling team for excessive violence, champion wrestler Takeshi (Mizutani) travels to India in search of Divadatta (Inoue), a former master of a martial discipline whose name appears to reference Devadatta, the cousin of the Buddha. Now living as a hermit, Divadatta agrees to instruct Takeshi, teaching him discipline and the mastery of seven specialised transformations associated with the Seven Coloured Mask. Each transformation corresponds to a day of the week and grants distinct abilities: Moonman (Monday) can reduce his size; Fireman (Tuesday) emits flames from his fingertips; Waterman (Wednesday) can breathe underwater and project water or ice; Treeman (Thursday) possesses chameleon‑like camouflage and can hurl pine needles; Goldman (Friday) can discharge thunderbolts and fly short distances; and Earthman (Saturday) can generate earthquakes and burrow underground.
The primary form, Sunman (Sunday), wields a range of rainbow‑themed powers, including a heat ray. In later episodes, Takeshi develops the capacity to combine abilities, enabling him to employ three day‑powers simultaneously.
Takeshi’s principal adversary is Mister K (Hirata), an international criminal mastermind whose foreign collaborators, primarily Chinese nationals, seek retribution against Japan for perceived wartime humiliations. Their operations include kidnapping Takeshi’s friends and family and locating his long‑lost father in an African prison in order to hold him for ransom. Subsequent antagonists include God Iguana (Shiozawa) and her mother (Soga), whose schemes occasionally conflict with Mister K’s, resulting in recurring three‑way confrontations at the conclusion of several episodes.
