Summary
Anthology series which is based on stories written by Ray Bradbury, some of which are science fiction. Many episodes were adapted from a single original work by Ray Bradbury, though Bradbury occasionally incorporated material from other stories to enrich the narrative. The episode Marionettes, Inc. included Fantoccini, a character originating in I Sing the Body Electric!, while Gotcha! opened with a sequence derived from The Laurel and Hardy Love Affair. In several cases, characters were renamed and additional plot elements introduced to extend the running time to approximately 23–28 minutes or to better accommodate the requirements of television storytelling.
Each episode began with a shot of Bradbury in his office, surrounded by personal mementos that, as he explained in narration, served as inspiration for his stories. In the first season, Bradbury occasionally appeared on screen in short vignettes that introduced the episode. In the second season, he provided a general opening narration without episode‑specific commentary. The third season employed a shortened version of this narration, supplemented by brief remarks tailored to the story being presented. From the fourth season onward, the series used a slightly abbreviated generic introduction without additional commentary.
