Summary
Four adolescent gamers, each a member of the highest‑ranking team in an online multiplayer title, meet face‑to‑face for the first time upon entering Alan Turing High School. Their placement at the institution has been orchestrated by Vera, an advanced artificial intelligence that has designated them as Guardians, individuals capable of entering cyberspace in physical form to defend its infrastructure from hostile incursions.
Early in the narrative, Vera acquires a human body and consequently loses direct access to cyberspace, prompting her to enrol at the school as an exchange student. The Guardians’ principal adversary is the Sourcerer, a human hacker whose use of dark code poses a significant threat to global computer systems. Following an initial confrontation with the team, the Sourcerer reactivates Megabyte, the central antagonist of the original ReBoot series, employing the virus as an agent within cyberspace to advance his objectives.
