Summary
After Raccoon City's destruction by the T‑virus in 1998, the Umbrella Corporation suffered a major public scandal and financial collapse. Court rulings in 2003–2004 upheld its federalisation and liquidation, and the company was found liable for victim compensation. Although Umbrella declared bankruptcy, it later re‑emerged under CEO Evelyn Marcus, who sought to restore its reputation while obscuring the truth behind the incident. Former executive Albert Wesker attempted to initiate an extinction event with the aid of his clones, Al, Alby and Bert, before his death in 2009, after which the clones were placed under Umbrella’s control.
The narrative alternates between 2022 and 2036. In 2022, fraternal twins Billie and Jade Wesker relocate to New Raccoon City in South Africa after their father, Al Wesker, receives an executive post at Umbrella. The twins uncover secrets surrounding their engineered origins and the corporation’s past, while a new T‑virus outbreak triggers a global collapse known as The Fall.
By 2036, human civilisation has dwindled to roughly 300 million survivors living in fortified settlements, surrounded by six billion infected Zeroes. Umbrella, now the dominant global power, conducts an extensive search for Jade Wesker.
