Summary
Two United States Navy divers discover Captain Nemo and his vessel, the Nautilus, lodged deep within the Pacific Ocean. After releasing him from a state of suspended animation, they enlist his assistance in thwarting Professor Waldo Cunningham, an engineer‑turned‑criminal mastermind who threatens to destroy Washington, D.C., unless he is paid one billion dollars in gold.
In addition to confronting Cunningham, Captain Nemo must also repair a leak of radioactive waste located 36,000 feet below sea level in the Mindanao Trench. His efforts ultimately lead him to a final confrontation with his adversary in the legendary lost city of Atlantis.
