Summary
Set in 1971, the series functions as a direct continuation of Ultraman and Ultraseven, taking place five years after Ultraman’s arrival on Earth and four years after Ultraseven’s departure. The narrative opens with a battle in Tokyo between two giant monsters, Takkong and Zazarn, whose clash results in widespread destruction. Amid the chaos, a young race‑car driver, Hideki Go, is killed while attempting to rescue a child and a dog from collapsing debris. His selfless act is witnessed by his friends and by members of the newly formed defence organization MAT (Monster Attack Team), but it also draws the attention of an unseen extra-terrestrial observer.
Watching over Hideki is New Ultraman, later designated Ultraman Jack, who is moved by the young man’s bravery. In response, he merges his own life force with Hideki’s, restoring him to life in a manner reminiscent of the original Ultraman’s fusion with Shin Hayata. Astonished by Hideki’s revival, MAT invites him to join the team, a role he accepts as Earth enters a perilous new Age of Monsters.
During crises, Hideki raises his right arm and transforms into Ultraman Jack, enabling him to confront the various kaiju threatening humanity. The original Ultraman and Ultraseven observe these battles from afar, intervening when New Ultraman faces overwhelming danger.
