Summary
In 2019, Huang Yu Xuan, a 27‑year‑old woman, continues to grieve the disappearance of her boyfriend Wang Quan Sheng, who has been presumed dead for two years. On her birthday, she expresses a single wish: to see him again. In 1998, Chen Yun Ru, a 17‑year‑old student, harbours unreciprocated feelings for a classmate. Her own birthday wish is to become the girl Li Zi Wei loves.
A mysterious cassette player serves as the conduit linking these two timelines. Through its intervention, Yu Xuan is transported into the past and awakens in the body of Chen Yun Ru, confronting the disorienting reality that she is now living Yun Ru’s life. The boy beside her is not Wang Quan Sheng but Li Zi Wei.
Bound to the past and inhabiting Yun Ru’s identity, Yu Xuan discovers that Yun Ru is fated to die in 1999. Determined to avert this outcome, she navigates the complexities of high‑school life while contending with unexpected emotional entanglements: Li Zi Wei develops affection for her, and his friend Mo Jun Jie also harbours a quiet admiration.
The narrative explores whether emotional bonds can endure across divergent timelines and whether love can transcend the structural limits imposed by time itself.
