Summary
The series centres on the inept maintenance staff assigned to a vast space station operated by the Galactic Empire. Narrative emphasis is placed on the daily experiences of cleaners Mike Chet and Darby Richards, together with their eccentric associates. Among these are computer specialist Edith Kingpin, the android LN6‑K, and the clone Dennis 4862; collectively they constitute Social Group 417. In the second season, the group is expanded with the arrival of Emily Roark.
Darby Richards is characterised by his grandiose aspirations, seeking rapid advancement to a more prestigious position within the Empire. His ambitions extend to the fantastical notion of becoming the next Dark Lord of the galaxy. However, his complete lack of aptitude for such endeavours repeatedly undermines his efforts, generating continual complications for both himself and his companions.
