Summary
Maika (Majka) is an extra-terrestrial visitor who arrives near the Slovak town of Čabovce and befriends local children, gradually revealing her abilities to levitate, walk on water, and replicate matter, as well as her origin from the planet Gurun via the intelligent transport system Felix. Initially uncanny in appearance and behaviour, she slowly develops emotional understanding and a more human‑like form as she learns from her friends.
Her presence becomes public after a press conference, she thwarts a kidnapping attempt by foreign agents, and repeated use of her powers depletes the stabilizer that sustains her. In the finale, critically weakened and unable to contact Felix, she is saved when the children re‑establish communication, allowing Felix to retrieve her in a final descent of light. Maika promises to return, giving the television series a hopeful ending that contrasts with the original book’s tragic conclusion.
