Summary
Former espionage operative Lorne Cash has retired from intelligence work and established a quiet life as the proprietor of a bar. His withdrawal from the field ends abruptly when Maxine London, an agent of the organisation E.C.H.O., informs him that his former partner, mentor, and closest friend Adam Quill has allegedly been assassinated while golfing with other retired agents. Cash and London begin investigating the circumstances of Quill’s supposed death, an inquiry that quickly escalates after an attempted attack by hired gunmen at Cash’s bar.
Their search soon reveals that Quill is not dead but has instead orchestrated an elaborate deception. His aim is to pursue the development of the ERADICATOR PROTOTYPE, an automated weapons system designed to vaporise organic targets while leaving surrounding structures intact. Quill intends to deploy the device against the President unless he receives a ransom of $10 billion. Although the President dismisses the threat as implausible, Cash, having witnessed a demonstration of the ERADICATOR and narrowly survived, recognises the gravity of the situation. Cash and London must now act independently to prevent Quill from carrying out his plan and avert further destruction."
