Summary
Set in a distant galaxy, the Magadaras Empire, regarded as the most powerful imperial state in recorded history, maintains its dominance through overwhelming military force. Opposing its rule are the Pigeonnaries of the Republic Army, a rebel faction that has waged a protracted, multi‑generational resistance against imperial authority.
Within this context, Ken (portrayed by Masashi Ogata), a volunteer soldier serving in the Imperial Army, is assigned to the 8823 (Hayabusa) Unit, a marginalised detachment stationed on a remote planet. The unit’s commanding officers issue orders marked by persistent absurdity and illogic. Despite this, Ken, who adheres unwaveringly to the ideals of military justice, and his eccentric fellow soldiers continue to carry out these directives without question.
