Summary
The narrative is set in 2399, two decades after Jean‑Luc Picard’s final appearance in Star Trek: Nemesis (2002). Picard remains profoundly affected by the death of the android Data in that film and by the subsequent destruction of the planet Romulus depicted in Star Trek (2009). Having retired from Starfleet, he resides on his family’s vineyard in France. His withdrawal from public life ends when he is approached by a synthetic being, described as a daughter of Data, one of several newly created artificial lifeforms known as synths. Picard becomes an advocate for their right to exist and ultimately sacrifices his life to ensure their survival.
Following the transfer of Picard’s consciousness into a synthetic body, the second season advances the timeline to 2401. Picard and his companions have embarked on new personal trajectories when they are confronted by Q, an extra‑dimensional entity and long‑standing adversary. Q alters reality, forcing Picard and his allies into an alternate timeline. To restore the proper course of history, they travel to the 21st century, where they must safeguard the future of the galaxy.
In the third season, Picard discovers that he has a son who has become the target of enigmatic hostile forces. This revelation prompts a reunion with the former crew of the USS Enterprise, who join Picard in protecting his son and confronting a renewed threat posed by the Borg.
