Summary
Starhunter follows a crew of 23rd‑century bounty hunters operating aboard the Trans‑Utopian, a refitted luxury liner whose faded hull markings leave only the letters that form its informal nickname, Tulip. Non‑crew personnel and transport hubs continue to refer to the vessel by its formal name.
In the first season, the Tulip is owned by Rudolpho deLuna, who employs Dante Montana as a bounty hunter. Dante accepts the position to finance his search for his son, Travis, abducted a decade earlier by Raiders. He is assisted by the ship’s engineer, Percy Montana, his niece, and by Lucrecia Scott, a former marine assigned by deLuna to ensure mission compliance. Lucrecia secretly serves as an operative for the Orchard, a covert organisation seeking to unlock and control alien genetic material known as the Divinity Cluster. Canadian broadcasts open each episode with a message from deLuna outlining Dante’s assignment; these monologues are omitted in U.S. broadcasts.
The second season introduces a restructured continuity. Percy emerges from hyperspace unchanged while fifteen years have passed externally. With the Tulip presumed lost, deLuna has already collected insurance, leaving the ship legally owned by the insurer until Percy claims salvage rights after the company’s closure. Travis Montana and his associate Marcus Fagen join the crew, while deLuna adds bounty hunter Callista Larkadia. Percy sardonically refers to the group as the "pretend cousin, big fat sleaze, little buddy, and mystery slut."
