Summary
Set primarily in Australia, the story concerns a conspiracy devised by a powerful consortium of international financiers and political power brokers. Their plan, known as the Stark Conspiracy, is to abandon the already‑devastated Earth by constructing a space ark that will ensure their survival while the planet is left to collapse.
Opposition arises from an eclectic group of eco‑activist hippies led by the rebellious Rachel. Accompanying them is Elton and aspiring writer Colin “CD” Dobson, whose preoccupation with pursuing Rachel provides the comic subplot. The supporting cast includes John Neville as the chief conspirator, De Quincey, and Derrick O’Connor, noted for his menacing roles, as an eccentric eco‑crusader.
