Summary
Stars on Mars centres on a group of celebrities who take up residence in a simulated Martian base, constructed in Coober Pedy, Australia, to approximate the conditions of life on the Red Planet. Within this environment, the participants must adapt to communal living and the operational demands of the faux colony. At the beginning of each cycle, the group elects one member to serve as the Base Commander, a position that carries responsibility for assigning daily tasks throughout the compound and overseeing the forthcoming mission. The Base Commander subsequently appoints a Mission Specialist, who assists in directing mission activities and receives immunity from elimination.
Each episode features a mission in which the celebrities must collaborate to complete a space‑themed challenge under the guidance of the Base Commander and Mission Specialist. Upon the mission’s conclusion, these two leaders identify three participants deemed the least mission critical, thereby placing them at risk of extraction from the simulated Mars environment. The remaining group must then deliberate and determine which of the nominated individuals will be removed from the base.
