Summary
Super Gran is a children’s fantasy‑comedy series centred on an elderly woman, Granny Smith, portrayed by Gudrun Ure, who unexpectedly acquires superhuman abilities after being struck by a magical ray devised by the eccentric inventor Inventor Black (Bill Shine). Assuming the heroic persona of Super Gran, she becomes the principal defender of the fictional town of Chisleton, using her newfound powers to thwart a variety of local wrongdoers.
Her principal adversary is the recurring villain Roderick Lithgoe "Scunner" Campbell (Iain Cuthbertson), accompanied by his criminal associates The Muscles (Alan Snell and Brian Lewis) and Tub (Lee Marshall, Jason Carrielies). Additional antagonists include figures such as James Jennings and Eastie, who similarly attempt to disrupt life in Chisleton.
Super Gran’s activities are frequently supported by her grandson Willard (Iam Towell, Michael Graham) and by Edison Faraday Black (Holly English, Samantha Duffy), the niece and assistant of Inventor Black. Together, they form a small but resourceful group dedicated to maintaining order and protecting the town’s residents from the schemes of its colourful rogues.
